B&B taps Seinfeld alum Danny Woodburn for guest-starring role

Seinfeld and Passions star Danny Woodburn is dropping by The Bold and the Beautiful to play a shifty tech whiz connected to Bill Spencer.

Hot on the heels of The Young and the Restless featuring former Seinfeld star Wayne Knight comes word that The Bold and the Beautiful has also welcomed an alum from the classic sitcom -- and he already comes with a soap opera background.

Comedic star Danny Woodburn, who played Mickey Abbott opposite Jerry Seinfeld from 1994 to 1998, is dropping by the CBS drama series as a shifty tech whiz connected to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont). And he'll likely look familiar to die-hard soap fans, considering he played a demon elf on Passions from 2007 to 2008.

"It all comes full circle, baby!" he told TV Insider of his history with soaps, which includes his run on Passions as well as the fact that his Seinfeld character and his pal Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards) worked together as stand-ins on All My Children.

As for how he landed the role of Ken, whom Bill hires to infiltrate Spencer Publications' computer system and get rid of the incriminating evidence against him, Woodburn says it's all thanks to a luncheon for CBS casting directors, which was attended by B&B's head of casting Christy Dooley. The actor spoke about the subject of diversity at the lunch, and one thing led to another.

"I advocate for performers with disabilities to play all kinds of people -- not just characters with disabilities," he says. "It's a tough business for everybody. This is my 27th year with a union card and I'm always excited to be on a set. To me, being at B&B isn't work. It's a vacation. [Laughs] When I have a job, I can actually relax!"

Watch for Woodburn's appearance on Thursday, October 19.
