Chrishell Stause on All My Children memories, the "explosion" of Selling Sunset

Actress Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda Dillon, All My Children; ex-Jordan Ridgeway, Days of our Lives) opens up about being slapped by Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane), who she says is "funnier than people ever thought," and why she might hide under a rock during season three of Selling Sunset, which chronicles her painful divorce.

It seems everyone is talking about Selling Sunset, the Netflix real estate reality series that stars soap opera favorite Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda Dillon, All My Children; ex-Jordan Ridgeway, Days of our Lives; ex-Bethany Bryant, The Young and the Restless). The buzz is partially about its exciting second season, which seems to have exploded onto the scene with much fanfare and has even been nominated for a Critics Choice Award. But it's also partially about the surprise announcement of the series' upcoming third season, which will take on a more personal tone and follow Stause through her recent divorce from This Is Us star Justin Hartley (ex-Adam Newman, Y&R; ex-Fox Crane, Passions). Obviously, the actress isn't exactly thrilled about the material to come, but she is trying to take everything in stride.

"I'm so proud of season one and season two, but season three, because it's not about work, and it takes obviously such a turn that I wasn't expecting, I'm not looking forward to it," Stause reveals in an interview on Everything Iconic with Danny Pelligrino. "I don't even know if I'm going to promote it. I don't know. I haven't even seen it myself, so I might go live under a rock while that happens and let everything settle. We'll see. I'm anxiously awaiting to watch it myself. It's such a blur, that time in my life. Luckily, I'm out of it, but obviously, now I don't want to go back to relive it.... [But] as awkward and uncomfortable as it is, I'm strapping in, because I do think the viewers are, for the most part, really supportive."

Though there is some subject matter that she's not looking forward to having displayed so publicly, Stause is extremely happy with the success of Selling Sunset and is looking forward to filming more seasons if the show gets picked up for renewal.

"It definitely feels like [the show] found its momentum. I feel like with season one, people slowly started to discover it and find it, and season two all of a sudden just felt more like an explosion. Everybody was talking about it... so that's great!" she says. "We have season three coming out August 7, and we're waiting to see if we're getting picked up, so now is really the important time for people to watch, because if they give us those 'pick up' papers, we'll go back... it's looking very good, though."

Speaking of things coming back, Stause also took some time to address fans' long-running hope that All My Children will be rebooted.

"Every couple of years, there's this new conversation about it coming back," she says. "I do know there's a lot of people rooting for that to happen, and a lot of people are open to it, as far as the actors go, so we'll see. You never know! There have been so many things that have been revived. Now, with streaming, anything is possible."

Stause goes on to say that one of her favorite memories from the show was getting slapped by Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane).

"She is an icon," Stause enthuses. "She is so much funnier than people ever thought about her. I knew who she was, obviously, before I got there, and I was always so surprised at how quick and funny she was, because I don't think that ever came across in the character she played -- well, a little bit -- but in real life, she's just always making everyone laugh. She's not intimidating at all. I just really loved her, and I loved the days that I got to get slapped by her! I lived for those days. I will never forget that day, being like, 'Be in the moment right now, because you're about to get slapped by Susan Lucci! How cool is this?!'
