Days of our Lives actress Aloma Wright (Maxine Landis, DAYS) will appear in TV One's powerful holiday film, Second Chance Christmas. The movie, which premieres on TV One on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 8pm ET/7pm CT, is about the importance of family in times of hardship.
The central characters are 13-year-old Lawrence (played by Michael Rainey, Jr.) and his stepfather Malcom (played by McKinley Freeman). Lawrence isn't immediately taken with his new stepfather when his mom, Maisie, marries Malcom after dating him for only six months. However, Lawrence and Malcolm soon find themselves having to rely on one another in ways they never expected.
Wright, who has played Salem University Hospital's head nurse, Maxine Landis, on DAYS since 2008, admits that she has intentionally kept herself from finding out how the story plays out on-screen.
"When I get a project like this, I don't read the whole script because I want enjoy it with my family and my friends and I don't want to be there knowing what's going on," Wright told Soap Central. "I only read my scenes."
Of the show's title, Wright expressed her belief in the importance of second chances.
"I am so glad that they exist because I have needed them all of my life," Wright explained. "I believe in forgiveness and I believe that if you do not forgive, the only one that you will be hurting is yourself. There are things that the universe and, for me Christ, has for you, that you will not receive until you do forgive. And it is hard. It's very hard."
Watts has had a variety of TV roles, both live-action and voice-over, since leaving DAYS, where she played attorney Cameron Reese, in 2008. She gives voice to Professor Wiseman in the animated Curious George television show and is also currently the on-camera announcer for Divorce Court.
The cast of Second Chance Christmas also includes R&B singer and The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burruss, R&B singer Durrell "Tank" Babbs, Ella Joyce (Roc, Belle's), Golden Brooks (Hollywood Divas, Girlfriends), and former DAYS star Rolonda Watts (ex-Cameron Reese).
