The Young and the Restless' Faith Newman is currently dealing with some pretty serious problems, including online bullying and underage drinking. But those issues might end up looking like child's play when compared to the fictional issues her portrayer, Alyvia Alyn Lind, will be facing in her next project, the TV horror series Chucky.
Lind will be joining actors Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, and Björgvin Arnarson as the four teen leads of the series, which is a reincarnation of the horror/slasher Child's Play film franchise that follows a red-haired, freckled-faced doll possessed by the soul of notorious serial killer, Charles Lee Ray.
According to official teasers, Chucky -- which hails from Child's Play creator and writer Don Mancini -- will follow the residents of an idyllic American town who are thrown into chaos when a series of horrific murders happens after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. The arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky's past threaten to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
Arthur is set to play Jake Webber, a loner trying to find his place in the world after his mom's death. Jake never connects to his dad or his peers, which makes him an easy target for Chucky.
Lind will play Lexy Taylor, a self-appointed princess of the school and Jake's primary bully. Lexy dates Jake's cousin, Junior (Briones), an all-American, over-achieving jock.
Meanwhile, Arnarson will portray Devon Lopez, a boy-next-door true-crime junkie who is hellbent on making sense of the town's mysterious tragedies, both past and present.
Child's Play star Jennifer Tilly will be reprising her role as Tiffany Valentine from the movies, and Final Destination star Devon Sawa will recur on the project, ordered straight-to-series by USA network and Syfy last year. Filming on Chucky is slated to begin next month in Toronto.
Alyvia Alyn Lind joined the cast of Y&R as Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon's (Sharon Case) youngest daughter in 2011. Some of her other credits include Daybreak, Future Man, Masters of Sex, Transparent, Revenge, and See Dad Run.
